Petra by Night: Important Information About Club Cars & Visitor Responsibility

Petra by Night is designed as a walking experience, allowing visitors to enjoy Petra in its most authentic and atmospheric form—on foot, at a relaxed pace, and immersed in history under the stars.

Club Cars: Limited & Not Recommended

Club cars operating inside the Petra Archaeological Park during Petra by Night experience are not operated, managed, or controlled by Petra by Night. These services are independently managed by the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), and a the Horse Local Association  and are designated exclusively for people with disabilities and elderly visitors.

The number of club cars is strictly limited to three vehicles per night, and availability depends entirely on park operations and on-site decisions based on first come first served. For this reason, club cars should not be relied upon or expected when planning a visit to Petra by Night.

A Walking Experience by Design

The Petra by Night program is intentionally created as a walking experience since 1998. The candle-lit walk through the Siq is an essential part of the experience and contributes significantly to its atmosphere, storytelling, and emotional impact.

Most visitors are able to complete the walk comfortably when wearing appropriate footwear and allowing sufficient time to proceed at a relaxed pace.

Visitor Responsibility & Disclaimer

While Petra by Night is committed to delivering a high-quality cultural experience, we do not carry any responsibility for complaints, claims, or inconveniences related to club cars or internal transportation services, as these fall entirely outside our operational scope and control.

Visitors are kindly advised to plan their visit accordingly and to base their expectations on a walking experience, not on the availability of transportation services within the park.

Transparency & Continuous Communication

Visitor feedback is always valued and, where relevant, shared with the responsible authorities to support transparency and future improvements. However, operational decisions regarding internal transportation remain the sole responsibility of park management.

Petra by Night is best experienced as it was intended—on foot, unhurried, and illuminated by thousands of candles.

Jordan’s Best Night Experiences

Best Night Experiences in Jordan: Petra by Night When night settles over the rose-red city, Petra reveals a side that few places on earth can match. The silence deepens, the air cools, and the ancient façades seem to breathe with stories of a thousand years. Among all the evening experiences in Jordan, one stands proudly above the rest: Petra by Night. A Journey by Candlelight The experience begins along the Siq — a narrow, winding gorge that has welcomed travelers for centuries. Lit only by hundreds of candles, the path draws visitors forward in a quiet, almost ceremonial procession. No cars. No crowds. No modern noise. Just the soft glow of lanterns and the steady rhythm of footsteps echoing against sandstone walls. A First Look to Remember As guests step out of the Siq, the Treasury emerges — majestic by day, but unforgettable by night. Candlelight carpets the entire forecourt, casting a warm, golden shimmer across the iconic façade. The moment feels suspended between myth and memory; it is often described as one of the most romantic and serene views in Jordan. A Sound & Light Experience Rooted in Heritage Petra by Night is not just about seeing the monument — it is about feeling its soul. The evening continues with traditional melodies inspired by Nabataean culture, leading gracefully into a storytelling segment that brings the site’s history to life. The atmosphere is intimate, slow, and reflective, honoring Petra as generations before us might have experienced it. A Unique Night in an Ancient City What sets Petra by Night apart is its authenticity. It avoids theatrics and excess, focusing instead on emotion, silence, and space — giving each visitor a personal connection to the Treasury. It’s not a show in the modern sense; it’s an encounter. A Jordan Moment to Carry Forever Guests often describe Petra by Night as the highlight of their journey in Jordan — a moment where time feels still, and history feels close enough to touch. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, the experience carries the same sense of wonder.
